My first auction and a road trip in Northwest Oklahoma

Hey there,
this past weekend Kelly and I went on a road trip to Northwest Oklahoma.  We traveled through Gage, Woodward, and Shattuck.
If you have ever driven through the plains you know that it is a much slower pace.  The rolling wheat
fields and sparsity of trees makes it a very peaceful place.  Love it or hate it, there is no denying the beauty of the golden hues of grass that just feel like an ocean of gold.
The beautiful hay bales dotting the fields
Kelly and I had such a great day.  We originally went to visit some cousins, Cindy and Kent, on my husbands side of the family who have an old family barn that sadly is no longer standing.
See the original color of this old "red" barn (swoon)

The property that is Cindy and Kent's is just so beautiful.  The old farm house that sits on it is in desperate need of some TLC but is so charming.
I would seriously move in it and get to work on it tomorrow if I had the opportunity.  I met some curious cows and took several pictures of them.
They must of thought I was crazy.
I loved it.  I took several pics around the property and just fell in love with the place.

Kent had mentioned that he had this barn last Christmas and wanted to know if I was interested in any barn wood.  "SERIOUSLY.... WOULD I LIKE SOME BARN WOOD?"  It was like an awesome Christmas present in itself.    Anyway, I was finally headed North to see about the barn wood.   While we were headed there, Cindy called and  said that there was an auction going on in Lavern and wanted to know if we were interested in going.  Well we were just two chicks blowing on a breeze and didn't have any reason not to go so we said ABSOLUTELY!

OMG, I had no idea how much fun it was to go to an auction. The auctioneer really does talk so fast that it's hard to believe that it is actually a human making all those sounds.  I was completely mesmerized by the whole thing.  The country folk were super friendly and truly having a great time.  I got a few super cool things

and an amazing antique vanity for a steal! I can't wait to get to work on this beauty.

After we left and were headed back, we stopped and took some pictures of some junk art that was amazing.  I will let you see for yourself.

The whole day was such a great day and we had so much fun visiting with Cindy and Kent.  Kent even gave me this,,,,
How cool is that.  I will be sure and post where it ends up.

Thanks Cindy and Kent for such an awesome day, I can't wait to go back.
Blessings to you,
