Goodbye my sweet Chloe

This past week has been a tough one for our family.  We lost our beloved Chloe.  We only had her a little under 2 years but she was with us long enough to steal our hearts.  It was parvo that took her.   She loved us, you could just see it in her eyes when she looked at us.  She gave the best hugs... literally she would hug you.  She would look up at you and rest her face on you and just look up at you with such love.  She will be missed and I hope her and our golden retriever, libby meet me in heaven when I get there.  050 IMG_0098 374249_1686398898014_13456626_n 383576_1686395817937_933417523_n chloe

Hello all,

I have been working so hard at getting my new domain up and running! I'm not even kidding, my brain hurts from all of the computer lingo that I have had to try and learn. Unfortunately, I don't think I am going to be able to move my followers. This seriously bums me out. I really hope that you will take a short time out to go to the new domain....www.upcycleaddict.net and click the follow button so that you will continue to get notifications of when I do something oober cool or even when it's not oober cool and you are just board... :) I really am so thankful for all of you, when you send me a sweet message or just hit the like buttom it really makes my day, it helps to remind me that what I'm doing just might inspire someone out there to make something oober cool too. This will be my last post on this site...
This is Upcycle Addict signing off...... hope to see you on the flip side. :)

Well, I have done it.... I am now paying for my own domain.....< upcycleaddict.net >
BUT.... and thats a big BUT... I have brain drain trying to figure out how I transfer everything from wordpress to my new domain.  I went through godaddy.com, I am not sure of what I have gotten myself into.  I told myself that if I kept at this blogging thing for a year, I would bite the bullet and pay for a service.  Sooooooo here I am, up to my bohiney..sp? It hasn't been quite a year yet,, December 31st will be a year but I'm not going to stop blogging, I really enjoy it and hope to continue to improve my site and my craft.  I ask that you please be patient with me and this process, I will certainly post when I have it all complete.  (i'm not hiring someone to do this.... I know I can do it.....fingers crossed)  I hope that all those who are following along will also be able to transfer with my posts as well.  Wish me luck and I hope to have this up and running soon. Happy Thanksgiving if I don't make it out before then.........

Best curb find to date!!!!!

Hey there,

I couldn't wait to show you what I found today.  While out scouting on my lunch hour today I came across this couple that were putting things at the curb that wouldn't fit in their U-haul.   They just didn't have an inch of room left and were not going to be returning.   So lucky for me.... right place at the right time.

A very large dresser is what caught my eye as I pulled up, it was missing a drawer and a couple of the ones that were with it was pretty banged up.  ( I didn't care cause I knew I could do something with it) wink wink, problem was I was in my car and I knew that hubby was not going to be having anything to do with bringing the truck to pick up a beat up old dresser.... I can't wait until I get a truck, at the very least a SUV.  :( Anyway, they had boxes of dishes, vhs tapes, books that were already wet from the rain.... yeah it was also raining.  I felt sorry for them, having to leave their "stuff" but I was excited to see what else they brought out of that house .... is that bad of me???

Just when I was feeling guilty for sitting in my car watching, I was about to leave when.... the rain stopped, a ray of sunshine beamed down  and shined on this...... Curb chair 001 I tell you I heard angels sing, I was positively giddy!  Saying to myself.... out loud.... please oh please put it on the curb....put it on the curb....... YES!!!!!! I couldn't pull up fast enough... I swear, it was like black friday dash.   The lady was very sweet and said she was glad that someone was going to take it and that it wasn't going to sit out in the rain and get ruined.  That is when she said that they just didn't have any room for it.  By this time, it was time for me to get back to the office so I couldn't stay to see what else came out.  I do wish I could have gotten the dresser but I am so happy with what I came home with. Curb chair 003

I can't decide if I should paint it or not, I'm really thinking about it because I really don't like the colour of the wood that it is.  The only thing that was wrong with it was the wheels had a brass covering over the wheels and 3 of them were bent up.  I just removed them.  I am so tickled to have found this chair.  I have wanted one like this for ever.Curb chair 004 Curb chair 002

What color should I paint it????   Really...... I need suggestions please. :)

Blessings to you,

Daddy's Cedar Chest made over

Hello all,

Recently I painted the cedar chest that my dad built when he was in high school.  I was torn with painting it but the finish was in pretty bad shape so after hem hawing back and forth I decided to just go ahead and do it.  I am so glad I did, I painted it black and also added a padded top to it.  The top of the chest had some deep gouges and some of the wood was splitting.  By covering the top it was sort of a way of preserving the outer portion of the chest but not having it be seen.  ( Does that make sence?)   I decided that this chest also needed some legs, since the bottom portion came off years ago.  Anyhoo, I can't find the before pictures so these after shots will just have to do.  chicken wire basket 014

Old trophy becomes welcome post

This weekend I made a welcome post out of an old trophy.  The trophy was a retirement gift that was given to my grandmother when she retired.  It had been sitting in the back of a closet for years.  I didn't want to get rid of it because it was once hers, but I really wasn't diggin the "oscar" sitting in my closet.  So I upcycled it! I used the base of it as a new welcome post.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  What do ya think?  Now every time I come home I see that sign and it makes me think of my granny. :) IMG_0600 IMG_0599 front door makeover 004

Upcycle Addict Sign

I found this on a curb several months back.  It had quite a bit of water damage so  I covered it with some veneer that I had and that is how it sat in my garage all summer.front door makeover 009 front door makeover 008  Well this weekend the craft bug bit me and this was one of 3 projects that I completed.  I decided to make my sign.  I framed it out with some old wooden rulers that I had in my stash and then painted my blog name on.  This just took a couple of hours to do and it now sits above the window in my office.  my sign 001 my sign 003 my sign 006
